This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, managing AP and AR workflows, and ensuring the integrity of accounting data. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on accounting experience, advanced QuickBooks Online knowledge, and the ability to identify, research, and resolve issues while producing organized, reviewable work. Essential Functions and Duties:
- Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online Advanced, including coding transactions, resolving discrepancies, and supporting account cleanup
- Manage accounts payable and receivable activities, including invoice processing, payment application, vendor and customer record maintenance, and aging reviews
- Perform recurring bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations, researching and resolving outstanding items
- Support month-end close activities by preparing schedules, maintaining workpapers, and assisting with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and financial reporting
- Assist with job costing and project accounting by maintaining project-related data, supporting billing activities, and identifying inconsistencies between accounting and operational records
- Contribute to accounting process improvements, documentation, and historical cleanup efforts while following established controls and maintaining confidentiality of financial information
Qualifications:
- 7 plus years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, with strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online; QBO Advanced experience preferred
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, including reconciliations, accrual accounting, debits and credits, and month-end close processes
- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor and customer records, and balance sheet support
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to independently research, resolve, and clearly document accounting issues
- Preferred experience with job costing, project-based businesses, accounting cleanup, inventory, progress billing, and related financial reporting
- Highly detail-oriented with strong accounting judgment, integrity, and the ability to identify discrepancies, improve processes, and collaborate effectively with leadership
