Ranch & Estate Caretaker

A privately owned ranch and estate in the Whitefish area is seeking a dependable and self-motivated Property Caretaker to help maintain its beautiful grounds, buildings, and facilities. Set against the backdrop of northwest Montana, this well-maintained property combines rural charm with high standards of care, offering a unique opportunity to work in a peaceful setting where craftsmanship, stewardship, and attention to detail are valued. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining exceptional properties, and is committed to preserving the beauty and functionality of the ranch for years to come.

Starting Salary: Up to $80K annually, based on qualifications and experience
Schedule: This is a Full-Time position where occasional evenings, weekends, holidays may be required to support family visits, weather events, property emergencies, or alarm notifications

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Maintain the ranch, buildings, grounds, roads, fences, and infrastructure to the highest standards
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on ranch equipment, vehicles, and property systems
  • Complete general maintenance projects, including light carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, irrigation, and seasonal upkeep
  • Monitor property conditions, coordinate contractors, and maintain maintenance records, equipment schedules, and inventory
  • Assist with landscaping, tree care, snow removal, wildfire mitigation, livestock oversight, and other seasonal ranch operations
  • Prepare the property for family visits, respond to security system alerts and property emergencies, and help ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment

Qualifications:
  • Experience in ranch, estate, farm, property, or facilities maintenance with strong mechanical aptitude and heavy equipment operation experience
  • Working knowledge of general maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, equipment repair, and property upkeep
  • Basic computer and smartphone proficiency
  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ pounds and working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions
  • Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience on a private estate or ranch, along with skills in welding, fencing, small engine repair, forestry management, wildfire mitigation, or pasture management
