MID-LEVEL MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Professional engineering firm in Missoula, MT is looking to add a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to their growing team. This firm consults, designs and provides innovative HVAC solutions for clients of every size to include luxury residences, commercial projects, resorts, and more. With a focus on architectural aesthetics, building comfort, and technology, the firm works with the nation’s top architects and developers on exciting projects that span the Rocky Mountain West and beyond.

Mechanical Engineer must reside in or near Missoula, MT.  Missoula is a highly sought after community located halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.  It provides great summer and winter recreation, excellent schools, a thriving downtown, and all of the other benefits of a university town.

Mechanical Engineer will lead projects and provide design expertise while working with cutting-edge computer modeling tools and travel occasionally to interface with clients and attend industry events.

Essential HVAC and Plumbing Functions:
  • Run heating and cooling loads for all HVAC projects.
  • Select best type of HVAC systems for each particular project.
  • Make HVAC equipment selections for project.
  • Layout all HVAC equipment and coordinate with building structure, and all other trades.
  • Create REVIT and / or CAD drawings for projects (a plus, not required – training provided).
  • Size and layout all sheet metal ductwork, grilles, and diffusers.
  • Size and layout all HVAC piping, valves, and specialties.
  • Create specifications / schedules for all HVAC and plumbing equipment and material being used on the project. Create separate specifications manual if required.
  • Run calculations to determine all pipe sizes required.
  • Make plumbing fixture and equipment selections.
  • Layout all plumbing piping systems and coordinate with building structure and all other trades.
  • Provide engineering support during project construction. This includes submittal review / approval, responding to RFI’s, and attending project meetings.
  • Create as-build drawings once project is completed.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering education
  • At least 3 years of directly related experience
  • Solid knowledge of AutoDesk REVIT modeling system (a plus but not required)
  • Good mechanical, analytical and technical skills.
