Experienced Cook

A local assisted living facility is hiring an Experienced Cook to join their busy team. They are dedicated to providing person-centered health care services and are passionate about serving residents and their families in a nurturing, transitional environment between hospital and home.

The Experienced Cook will have ideally have experience in a hospital or long-term care setting, demonstrate strong culinary skills, and bring a team-oriented attitude to a collaborative kitchen environment. Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Maintain kitchen and cooking areas in a safe, clean, orderly, and sanitary condition
  • Prepare a variety of tasteful meals in large quantities, including pureed foods and special diets, following prepared menus and portion control guidelines
  • Accurately record food temperatures and ensure all safety and quality standards are met
  • Present meals in an appealing manner to residents and assist with meal service and clean-up
  • Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor and assist in staff orientation and ongoing training
  • Follow all assigned cleaning schedules and report any resident care concerns or kitchen-related issues

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care facility
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid ServSafe Certificate; knowledge of PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
  • Ability to bake things from scratch and to read and follow recipes and technical procedures
  • Capable of solving practical problems and interpreting various instructions (written, oral, diagram, or schedule form)
  • Ability to pass a background screening
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and to be on feet all day
  • Weekends and holiday availability
