Banking Operations Representative

A local, family-owned and operated bank group in the Flathead Valley is looking for a Banking Operations Representative for operations bank-wide. They are committed to creating an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment. This position includes the entire loan process from creating new loan documents to processing payments and creating loan files. 

This role supports the accurate and efficient processing of deposit accounts by performing a variety of essential back-office functions. Responsibilities include file maintenance and quality control, system updates, transaction reconciliation, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The position also provides cross-functional support to the accounting team through reconciliations, reporting, and other operational tasks. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, familiarity with banking systems, and a commitment to data integrity and compliance standards.

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Manage daily deposit operations, including customer inquiries, debit card administration, disputes, stop payments, ACH monitoring, and account maintenance
  • Support accounting and retail teams by serving as a liaison and assisting with wires, levies, garnishments, audits, and exception processing
  • Oversee fraud mitigation and risk management for debit cards, including monitoring, reporting, and maintaining fraud rules
  • Maintain accurate reporting, tracking, and data integrity for deposit products, KPIs, analytics, and operational metrics
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations and internal policies (NACHA, BSA, OFAC, escheatment, audits, exams), updating procedures as needed
  • Identify process improvements and efficiencies while delivering exceptional internal and external customer service

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred; experience in deposit operations strongly preferred
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience; prior banking experience a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and critical-thinking skills with high attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required, including maintaining moderately complex formulas; strong computer, typing, and 10-key skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively prioritizing and managing workload
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and integrity, including the ability to maintain confidentiality, build trust, and work cooperatively with team members
