Purchaser and Estimator

A locally owned and reputable residential home builder in the Flathead Valley is looking to fill a Purchaser/Estimator position. They focus on building affordable homes for people who work, live and vacation in Kalispell and the Flathead Valley. Their goal is to provide clients with an easy and fun home-building experience. They have a solid reputation in the community, attested to by their length of time building homes in the beautiful Flathead Valley and many repeat home buyers over the years.

The Purchaser & Estimator ensures timely, complete, accurate, organized, and cost-effective material and labor deliveries in alignment with each project’s plans, construction schedule, and budget. The Purchaser fosters strong relationships with vendors and tradesmen to reduce costs and optimize services while researching and implementing innovative products and techniques to enhance the home-building process.
 
Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Estimating
    • Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate estimates, manage material takeoffs, and generate purchase orders, while maintaining up-to-date budgets, pricing, and parts databases
    • Lead the development and management of systems for estimating construction areas not covered by suppliers or trades, and oversee the research, approval, and processing of variance purchase orders and change orders
    • Organize pre-construction meetings, coordinate with superintendents to review project details, and ensure compliance with building code changes throughout the construction process
  • Purchasing
    • Continuously research industry trends, innovative products, and techniques, while developing relationships with tradesmen and suppliers to reduce costs and enhance service
    • Support the Project Manager in ensuring tradesmen contracts and insurance are current, and in creating, processing, and verifying accurate and timely change orders and estimate adjustments
    • Achieve high satisfaction among tradesmen and suppliers by approving payments promptly, generating accurate purchase orders, and reviewing job cost-related payables for correct cost coding and payment terms adherence

Pay: $55,000 to $65,000/year, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time
