A global professional services firm is looking for an Assistant Controller to join their team in the beautiful mountains of Northwest Montana. With 10 subsidiaries, they specialize in providing professional products and services in aerospace, critical mission support, and engineering & security solutions.
The Assistant Controller oversees the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization and supports the Controller in managing all core financial functions. You’ll assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, prepares financial statements in accordance with GAAP, and with various finance initiatives. In collaboration with internal teams, the Assistant Controller ensures the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger activities, while promoting a positive, collaborative culture focused on service excellence and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions and Duties:
- Oversee all accounting operations (GL, payroll, AP, T&E) to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial performance
- Lead financial reporting, month/year-end close, audits, and preparation of complete financial statements
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, GAS, and government regulations
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, financial analysis, and support strategic business decisions
- Drive process improvements, system optimization (including Costpoint), and implementation of efficient workflows
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while overseeing departmental structure, performance, and productivity
- Ensure effective management of cost accounting, indirect rates, and required regulatory reporting (including incurred cost submissions)
- Oversee multi-jurisdictional tax filings, government reporting, and coordination of external, insurance, and government audits
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited program
- 7+ years of accounting experience in a management role, including 5+ years of direct supervisory experience in cost accounting
- Experience working with Department of Defense (DoD) government contracts preferred
- Recent experience (within the past 5 years) with Multiple Award Schedule contracts (e.g., GSA, OASIS, eFAST, NETCENTS II), including IDIQ contract types and Industrial Funding Fee (IFF)
- Experience supporting multi-entity or holding company structures preferred
- Active CPA license or CPA candidate status required
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills, with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint with recent hands-on experience
- Ability to foster a high-performance, continuous improvement culture and maintain organized accounting systems
