A well-established national land brokerage firm based in Bozeman, Montana, specializing in the sale and acquisition of farms, ranches, timberland, vineyards, and recreational properties nationwide, is seeking a Controller. Known for its integrity, expertise, and passion for the land, the company serves as a trusted advisor to buyers and sellers alike.

This is not a traditional corporate Controller role, it is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves to manage day-to-day accounting operations while improving systems, processes, and financial infrastructure. We are looking for strong experience in multi-entity accounting, operational finance, payroll, and financial reporting, along with the leadership and execution skills needed to help scale the organization.

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Manage the full accounting cycle across multiple entities using QuickBooks Online
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and commission payouts
  • Process payroll and ensure timely, accurate payroll tax filings and compliance requirements
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, month-end close, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports
  • Monitor company cash position and overall financial performance
  • Improve financial systems and processes while helping build and develop the accounting department

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; advanced degree or CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience managing full accounting functions
  • Must have industry experience in land brokerage and real estate
  • Strong hands-on experience in accounting, operational finance, and multi-entity accounting
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, financial reporting systems, payroll processing, and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines with accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail
