Essential Functions and Duties:
- Lead the civil engineering design for solar energy projects, including site layout, grading, drainage, access roads, foundations, and other civil works
- Conduct site assessments and geotechnical investigations to determine appropriate designs for solar power plants
- Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings and specifications for solar installations, ensuring compliance with local, national, and international codes and regulations
- Design site layouts, including solar array placements, roadways, and stormwater management systems
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and environmental engineers to ensure integrated project designs that meet project objectives
- Conduct cost analysis and provide input on material selection and construction methods to optimize the civil design and budget
- Provide support during the construction phase, including reviewing contractor submittals, managing construction schedule, and ensuring quality control of civil works
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance and support in civil engineering design and project management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) – a Master’s degree is a plus
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is required
- 7+ years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 4 years of experience in the solar or renewable energy industry
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, including site design, grading, drainage, and foundation design
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and other relevant design tools
- Familiarity with solar energy systems, including site design requirements specific to solar farms (e.g., access roads, layout, environmental considerations)
- Ability to perform site evaluations and coordinate geotechnical studies to inform design decisions, manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget targets
- Ability to work 100% in office
