A well-established commercial construction and specialty trade contractor in the Flathead Valley is seeking an Office Assistant. Known for high-quality framing, insulation, sheathing, and interior finishing work, the team supports a range of projects including medical facilities, educational buildings, commercial structures, and institutional developments. This company brings decades of experience to complex builds across Northwest Montana.
This position is designed as a transitional role, working closely with our current Office Assistant who plans to retire, with the goal of learning and eventually assuming full responsibility for key administrative and accounting functions. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, highly organized, and comfortable handling sensitive financial and personnel information.

Essential Functions and Duties:
- Assist with payroll processing, including time entry, deductions, reporting, and workers’ compensation coordination
- Support accounts receivable and payable functions, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments
- Maintain accurate financial, insurance, contract, and administrative records in an organized manner
- Assist with state and federal compliance filings, audits, and construction- and employment-related reporting
- Provide professional communication and administrative support, including phones, emails, and coordination with staff, vendors, and external agencies
- Support daily office operations while learning all aspects of the role, documenting processes, and gradually assuming increased responsibility
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in construction, accounting, or administrative roles preferred, with familiarity in compliance processes a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor
- Proficiency with basic office software and the ability to learn new systems and processes
- Basic understanding of accounting functions, including payroll, accounts receivable/payable, and financial reporting
