Essential Functions and Duties:
- Operate manual lathes, mills, and specialized equipment to fabricate and modify parts according to specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining requirements
- Set up and adjust machines, selecting appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds for each job
- Perform precise measurements using instruments such as calipers and micrometers to ensure components meet specified tolerances
- Assist in welding and fabrication tasks as needed, including MIG and stick welding, to support repair and manufacturing projects
- Participate in repair projects, utilizing machining and welding skills to restore or enhance equipment and components
- Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of proven experience as a manual machinist in a job shop or manufacturing setting
- Proficiency in operating manual machining equipment, including lathes and mills
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience with MIG and stick welding techniques is preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Fabrication experience is a plus but not required
