Jewelry Specialist

A trusted local retail and pawn operation is seeking a Full or Part-time Jewelry Specialist. Known for fast, friendly service and a wide selection of quality merchandise, the showroom offers an eclectic mix of jewelry, firearms, tools, sporting goods, collectibles, and more. With decades of experience, the business has built a strong reputation as a trusted resource for customers looking to buy, sell, trade, or secure a pawn loan.

The Jewelry Specialist will provide expert evaluations, skilled repairs, and exceptional customer service for fine jewelry. This role requires formal training in gemology, metalsmithing, or a related field, as well as knowledge of gemstones, precious metals, and craftsmanship to ensure accurate appraisals, confident purchasing/sales recommendations, and quality repair work. The Specialist will assist customers with buying, selling, trading, and maintaining their jewelry, while ensuring all transactions meet company, industry, and regulatory standards.

Starting Wage: Up to $25/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time or Part-time, evening and weekend availability

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Greet customers, assess needs, and recommend merchandise or services while educating them on jewelry care and value
  • Build lasting customer relationships and encourage repeat business through exceptional service
  • Evaluate, appraise, and test jewelry, gemstones, and precious metals for authenticity, quality, and pricing
  • Perform skilled jewelry repairs, adjustments, and custom work, ensuring all pieces meet high-quality standards
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions, repairs, special orders, and inventory while adhering to company and industry regulations
  • Price, tag, and display merchandise attractively while keeping the sales floor, inventory, and workspace organized, secure, and compliant with safety protocols

Qualifications:
  • Formal training in gemology, metalsmithing, or a related field is required
  • Previous experience in jewelry sales, repair, or appraisal is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of gemstones, precious metals, jewelry construction, and appraisal practices
  • Skilled in jewelry repair techniques with excellent manual dexterity, precision, and attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication, customer service, and sales abilities in a retail/pawn environment
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage records, transactions, and inventory accurately
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and handle physical requirements – standing, fine detail work, lifting up to 20 lbs
