Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Swing Shift

A well-established and fully integrated forest product company, proudly rooted in the Flathead Valley, is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Their operation encompasses everything from sustainably managing their own timberland to running their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.  They believe their recipe for success is their commitment to healthy forests, healthy families and a healthy community.

The ideal candidate has experience with hydraulics, engines, and electrical systems, can troubleshoot independently, and performs preventative maintenance to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. Strong safety awareness, reliability, and a valid driver’s license are required; welding and fabrication skills are a plus.

Why You Want This Position:
  • Starting Pay Range: $28.43 to $34.56/hour, depending on experience
  • Schedule: Swing shift: Monday through Thursday 1:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Install, maintain, and repair sawmill machinery and production equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly and safely
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and maximize efficiency
  • Inspect equipment for safety and operational performance
  • Maintain accurate service records and track parts usage
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure smooth, continuous equipment operation while following all safety and lockout/tagout procedures

Qualifications:
  • 1 to 3 years of heavy equipment mechanical experience
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel and gas engines, and electrical systems
  • Ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical failures
  • Experience with sawmill or forestry equipment, welding, and fabrication preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; CDL a plus; Must provide basic tools
  • Comfortable working in outdoor/industrial environments
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. frequently and maintaining a strong safety mindset
